Youth League: Leverkusen Brush Past Brest
Leverkusen Edge Past Brest in Thrilling Youth League Clash
Bayer Leverkusen's U19 team secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Stade Brestois 29 in the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday.
The German outfit started brightly and took the lead in the 15th minute through a well-taken strike from Iker Bravo. Brest responded well and equalized just before half-time through a close-range finish from Mathis Gboho.
The second half was a tight affair, with both teams creating chances but failing to find the breakthrough. However, Leverkusen eventually grabbed the winner in the 80th minute when Zidan Sertdemir converted a penalty kick.
The victory sees Leverkusen move top of Group B, while Brest remain in third place. The German side will now face Atletico Madrid in their next match, while Brest will take on Club Brugge.
