Youth League: Bayer Leverkusen crash out of Europe

Bayer Leverkusen have been knocked out of the UEFA Youth League after a 3-1 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals.

The German side were second best throughout the match and went behind to a goal from Sergio Camello in the first half.

Bayer Leverkusen equalised through Iker Bravo in the second half, but Atletico Madrid regained the lead through Carlos Martin and then made sure of victory with a late goal from Pablo Barrios.

Bayer Leverkusen have now been knocked out of the UEFA Youth League at the quarter-final stage for the second season in a row.

They will be disappointed to have exited the competition at this stage, but they can take heart from the fact that they have a number of talented young players in their squad.

Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, will be delighted to have reached the semi-finals of the competition.

They will be confident of going all the way and winning the tournament, which would be their first UEFA Youth League title.
