Milan outclass Newcastle in entertaining encounter
AC Milan's Under-19s produced a stunning performance to thrash Newcastle United 4-0 in the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday, booking their place in the quarter-finals.
The Rossoneri youngsters dominated from start to finish, with Lorenzo Colombo bagging a brace to take his tally in the competition to five.
Pietro Pellegri and Emil Roback were also on target as Milan made it three wins from three in Group E, while Newcastle bow out after suffering their third successive defeat.
The visitors took the lead after just eight minutes when Pellegri's clever backheel found Colombo, who fired home from close range.
Milan doubled their advantage midway through the first half when Pellegri got on the scoresheet himself, heading home from a corner.
Colombo added his second early in the second half, finishing off a flowing move involving Roback and Pellegri.
Roback then wrapped up the scoring with a fine individual effort, leaving Newcastle's defenders in his wake before slotting home.
Milan will now face either Real Madrid or Inter Milan in the quarter-finals, while Newcastle's European adventure comes to an end.
