On the final stretch: Casey and Booker make last push in election season
In the remaining weeks ahead of the November midterm elections, Democratic incumbents Bob Casey (Pa.) and Cory Booker (N.J.) are pushing to turn out their bases and rally support for Democratic candidates up and down the ballot.
Highlighting his commitment to protecting reproductive rights and strengthening the middle class, Casey stumped at a union hall north of Philadelphia. Meanwhile, Booker focused on the importance of voting and criticized Republican candidates' plans to cut Social Security and Medicare.
In a speech to union members in Bucks County, Casey emphasized the need to elect Democrats who will fight for working families. He touted his record of supporting unions, raising the minimum wage, and expanding access to affordable healthcare.
"We need to send a message to Washington that we're not going to let them take away our rights or our way of life," Casey said. "We need to elect Democrats who will stand up for us and fight for our values."
Booker, speaking at a rally in Newark, New Jersey, urged voters to turn out on Election Day and reject Republican candidates who he said would undermine democracy and harm the middle class.
"We have a choice in this election," Booker said. "We can either move forward together, or we can go back to the failed policies of the past. I urge you to vote for Democrats up and down the ballot and build a better future for our state and our country."
Both Casey and Booker are facing competitive races in November. Casey is being challenged by Republican Mehmet Oz, a cardiothoracic surgeon and television personality. Booker is facing a challenge from Republican Rik Mehta, a businessman and former mayor of Edison.
The midterm elections will be held on November 8, 2022. Voters will elect all 435 members of the House of Representatives and 34 U.S. senators, as well as numerous state and local officials.
