TSC plans to hire 30,000 new teachers by July to address shortage in schools

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced plans to hire 30,000 new teachers by July this year in a bid to address the shortage of teachers in schools.

TSC CEO Nancy Macharia said that the commission is working closely with the Ministry of Education to ensure that the recruitment process is completed in time for the new academic year.

“We are committed to ensuring that all our schools have adequate teachers to provide quality education to our learners,” said Macharia.

The TSC is targeting to hire teachers in various subjects, including English, Mathematics, Science, Kiswahili, Social Studies, and Home Science.

Interested candidates can apply for the positions online through the TSC website. The deadline for applications is March 15, 2023.

TSC to prioritize hiring teachers from marginalised areas

The TSC has also announced that it will give priority to hiring teachers from marginalised areas in the country.

“We want to ensure that all our learners have access to quality education, regardless of their location,” said Macharia.

The TSC is working closely with county governments to identify areas that are in need of teachers.

TSC to provide training for new teachers

The TSC will also provide training for the new teachers to ensure that they are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to deliver quality education.

The training will cover areas such as curriculum development, lesson planning, and classroom management.
