US Rep. Chuck Edwards Defeats Challenger Caleb Rudow, Wins 2nd Term
Edwards Wins by a Comfortable Margin
In a closely watched race, incumbent US Rep. Chuck Edwards (R-Hendersonville) has defeated Democratic challenger Caleb Rudow to secure his second term in Congress.
With 98% of precincts reporting, Edwards leads with 57% of the vote to Rudow's 43%. The Associated Press called the race for Edwards shortly after 10 pm on election night.
Edwards Thanks Supporters, Vows to Continue Working for Western North Carolina
In a victory speech delivered at his campaign headquarters in Hendersonville, Edwards thanked his supporters and volunteers for their hard work and dedication.
"I am honored and humbled to have your continued trust and support," Edwards said. "I promise to continue working every day to fight for the people of Western North Carolina and make our communities stronger."
Rudow Concedes, Thanks Supporters
Rudow conceded the race in a statement released shortly after the AP's projection.
"I want to thank my supporters, volunteers, and family for their unwavering belief in our campaign," Rudow said. "While we did not achieve the outcome we hoped for tonight, I am proud of the race we ran and the issues we brought to the forefront."
