I'm Bob Casey: This is why I want Pennsylvania’s vote for Senate
The upcoming midterm elections could be a pivotal moment for health care, climate change and gun control in the United States, according to Pennsylvania Democratic Senate candidate Bob Casey.
Casey, who is running for a third term in the Senate, said he is running on a platform of protecting access to affordable health care, addressing climate change and gun violence and supporting working families.
Casey is one of the most vulnerable Democratic senators up for reelection in 2022. He is facing a challenge from Republican Mehmet Oz, a celebrity heart surgeon and television personality. The race is expected to be close.
In an interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Casey said he is running for reelection because he believes the country is at a "critical juncture" and he wants to continue to fight for the issues he cares about.
"I'm running for reelection because I believe we're at a critical juncture in our country's history," Casey said. "We're facing challenges that require us to come together and find common ground, and I believe I have the experience and the leadership to help us do that."
Casey has served in the Senate since 2007. He is a member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee and the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
If reelected, Casey said he will continue to fight to protect access to affordable health care. He said he believes that health care is a right, not a privilege, and he will work to ensure that all Americans have access to quality, affordable health care.
Casey said he will also continue to address climate change. He said he believes that climate change is one of the most pressing issues facing the planet, and he will work to pass legislation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and transition to a clean energy economy.
Casey said he will also continue to support working families. He said he believes that everyone deserves a fair shot at success, and he will work to pass legislation to raise wages, make it easier for people to afford child care and expand access to affordable housing.
"I'm running for reelection because I believe we can build a better future for all Pennsylvanians," Casey said. "I'm running because I believe we can create a more just, equitable and prosperous society for all."
