Maury County, TN - A civil defense siren blared through the community on Tuesday afternoon, sending residents scrambling for shelter as a tornado warning was issued by the National Weather Service.
The warning was issued at approximately 2:15 pm, and residents were advised to take cover immediately.
The Maury County County Commission meeting was abruptly adjourned due to the weather threat, and attendees were instructed to seek shelter.
The tornado warning remained in effect for approximately 30 minutes, and no injuries or damage have been reported at this time.
The National Weather Service advises residents to remain weather-aware and to monitor local news and weather channels for updates.
If you see a tornado, take shelter immediately. The safest place to be is in a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of your home.
Stay away from windows and doors, and cover your head and neck with a blanket or pillow.
