Youth League: Milan and BVB advance to the quarter-finals
Milan crushes Dinamo Zagreb 4-0, while BVB defeats Manchester City 3-2
Two of the most prestigious clubs in European football, AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund, have advanced to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Youth League after impressive victories in the Round of 16.
Milan, the seven-time European Cup winners, were in devastating form as they thrashed Dinamo Zagreb 4-0 at the Vismara Stadium. The Italian giants took the lead in the 11th minute through a stunning strike from Lorenzo Colombo, and they never looked back.
Colombo added a second goal in the 35th minute, before Marko Lazetic made it 3-0 just before half-time. The rout was completed in the 75th minute when Tommaso Pobega netted Milan's fourth goal.
BVB, the 2017 UEFA Youth League winners, also produced a superb performance to defeat Manchester City 3-2 at the Etihad Campus. The German side took the lead in the 20th minute through a well-taken goal from Julian Rijkhoff.
City equalized in the 35th minute through Liam Delap, but BVB regained the lead just before half-time courtesy of a stunning free-kick from Jamie Bynoe-Gittens. City again drew level in the 65th minute through Finley Burns, but BVB had the final say when Bynoe-Gittens scored his second goal of the game in the 80th minute.
Milan and BVB will now face each other in the quarter-finals, which will be played on April 13 or 14. The other quarter-finals will see Barcelona take on Eintracht Frankfurt, Liverpool face Porto, and Real Madrid play Inter Milan.
