Youth League: Liverpool Reach Last 16 After Late Win Over Napoli
Reds Progress as Bajcetic Seals Comeback
Liverpool's under-19s booked their place in the last 16 of the UEFA Youth League with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Napoli on Tuesday.
The Reds trailed to a penalty from Antonio Cioffi in the first half but came from behind to secure victory thanks to goals from Max Woltman and Stefan Bajcetic.
Liverpool started brightly and could have taken the lead early on when Oakley Cannonier fired over from close range.
Woltman Equalizes
Napoli grew into the game and took the lead on 25 minutes when Cioffi converted from the spot after a handball by Luke Chambers.
Liverpool responded well to the setback and leveled matters just five minutes later when Woltman headed home from a corner.
The Reds continued to press for a winner in the second half and were rewarded for their efforts when Bajcetic fired home from the edge of the area with just four minutes remaining.
Bajcetic Seals Comeback
Liverpool held on to secure a hard-fought victory and will now face either Barcelona or Inter Milan in the last 16.
The Reds have impressed in the Youth League this season, winning four of their five group games.
Promising Future
The victory over Napoli is a testament to the strength of Liverpool's academy system and bodes well for the future of the club.
