Leverkusen, Brest secure quarterfinal berths in Uefa Youth League
Bayer Leverkusen and Stade Brestois 29 have advanced to the quarterfinals of the Uefa Youth League after impressive victories in the knockout stages.
Leverkusen, the German Bundesliga side, defeated Real Madrid 3-2 in a thrilling match on Wednesday. The Spanish giants had taken an early lead through Sergio Arribas but Leverkusen fought back with goals from Zidan Sertdemir, Iker Bravo, and Joshua Eze.
Brest, the French Ligue 1 side, also secured a quarterfinal berth with a 2-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday. Goals from Mathias Lage and Johan Mbock put Brest in control of the match and they held on to secure the win.
Leverkusen and Brest will now join Ajax, Benfica, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Manchester City, and Salzburg in the quarterfinals of the competition. The draw for the quarterfinals will be held on Friday, March 17.
