Youth League: Dortmund cruise to victory against Copenhagen
BVB secure convincing 3-0 win in Denmark
Dortmund dominate proceedings from start to finish
Borussia Dortmund's Under-19s have continued their impressive run of form in the UEFA Youth League, cruising to a comfortable 3-0 victory over FC Copenhagen in Denmark on Wednesday afternoon.
The young Black and Yellows were in control from the outset, with captain Lars Ricken pulling the strings in midfield and creating numerous chances for his teammates. It was Ricken who eventually opened the scoring in the 20th minute, firing home a low shot from the edge of the area.
Copenhagen showed little attacking threat throughout the first half, and Dortmund doubled their lead just before the break thanks to a fine individual effort from Ansgar Knauff. The winger picked up the ball on the left flank, drove into the area, and curled a shot into the far corner.
The second half was more of the same, with Dortmund continuing to dominate possession and create chances. They finally put the game to bed in the 70th minute when Knauff grabbed his second of the afternoon, tapping home from close range after a cross from the right by Julian Rijkhoff.
The victory sees Dortmund move top of Group G with six points from their opening two matches. They will now face Manchester City at home in their next fixture on October 5.
