Youth League: BVB Celebrates Dramatic Comeback Win Against Manchester City
Borussia Dortmund's U19 team staged a remarkable comeback to secure a 3-2 victory over Manchester City in the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday.
Trailing 2-0 at half-time, BVB rallied impressively in the second half to claim all three points.
Manchester City took an early lead through Oscar Bobb, who capitalized on a defensive error to slot home in the 10th minute. The English side doubled their advantage just before the break, with Adedire Mebude converting a penalty after BVB goalkeeper Silas Ostrzinski was adjudged to have fouled Alex Robertson.
BVB emerged from the interval with renewed determination and pulled one back within minutes of the restart. Jamie Bynoe-Gittens showcased his individual brilliance, dribbling past several City defenders before firing into the bottom corner.
The equalizer came in the 70th minute through captain Julian Rijkhoff, who headed home a corner from close range. With momentum firmly on their side, BVB completed the turnaround just three minutes later. Tom Rothe's cross found Bynoe-Gittens, who chested the ball down before volleying home to seal a dramatic victory.
The win sees BVB move up to second place in Group G, level on points with Manchester City but behind on goal difference. The German side will now face Sevilla in their final group game, needing a win to secure a place in the knockout stages.
