Youth League: AC Milan hold on to beat Newcastle to reach quarter-finals
Rossoneri secure 2-0 victory on the night, 4-1 on aggregate
Goals from Lorenzo Colombo and Marko Lazetic seal the win for Milan
AC Milan's Under-19s booked their place in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Youth League with a 2-0 victory over Newcastle United at St. James' Park on Wednesday.
The Rossoneri, who won the first leg 2-1 at the Vismara Stadium last week, were in control for much of the game and deservedly progressed to the next round.
Lorenzo Colombo gave Milan the lead in the 25th minute with a composed finish after being played in by Marko Lazetic.
Lazetic made it 2-0 just before half-time, firing home from close range after a cross from Emil Roback.
Newcastle improved after the break but could not find a way past Milan goalkeeper Andreas Jungdal, who made a number of good saves.
The Magpies' best chance came in the 70th minute when Elliot Anderson hit the post from close range.
But Milan held on to secure a 4-1 aggregate victory and a place in the quarter-finals, where they will face either Barcelona or Lyon.
