Youth League: AC Milan eliminated by Braga
Young Rossoneri crash out of the competition despite Ibrahimovic's best efforts
AC Milan's UEFA Youth League campaign came to an end on Wednesday as they were defeated 3-0 by Braga in the last 16. The Rossoneri had been hoping to reach the quarter-finals for the first time since 2018, but they were outclassed by a strong Braga side.
Milan started the game brightly and had a number of chances to take the lead in the opening stages. However, they were unable to find the back of the net, and Braga gradually began to take control of the game.
Portuguese side Braga were too strong for Milan on the night
Braga took the lead in the 27th minute when Rodrigo Gomes scored a stunning goal from outside the box. Milan goalkeeper Andreas Jungdal got a hand to the ball, but he was unable to keep it out.
Braga doubled their lead in the 55th minute when Umaro Candé scored from close range. Milan pulled a goal back in the 77th minute through substitute Lorenzo Colombo, but it was too little too late.
Braga added a third goal in stoppage time through Ricardo Horta to seal a comfortable victory. Milan's elimination from the Youth League is a disappointing end to their season, but they can take heart from the fact that they reached the last 16 of the competition for the first time in three years.
