Bavarian giants triumph over Salzburg in thrilling final
FC Bayern Munich's Under-19s have been crowned champions of the UEFA Youth League after a dramatic 2-1 victory over Red Bull Salzburg in Nyon, Switzerland.
The German side took the lead through a stunning free-kick from captain Johannes Schenk in the 18th minute, but Salzburg hit back just before half-time thanks to a fine strike from Noah Okafor.
The second half was a tense affair, with both teams creating chances but neither able to find the winner. However, Bayern eventually broke the deadlock in the 83rd minute when substitute Malik Tillman fired home from close range.
The victory is Bayern's first in the UEFA Youth League, and it marks a significant achievement for the club's youth development program. It is also a testament to the quality of the young players coming through the ranks at Bayern, with several of the team's star performers already making their mark in the first team.
Speaking after the match, Bayern coach Sebastian Hoeneß praised his team's performance and said that they deserved to win the tournament.
