Uefa Youth League: Bayer Leverkusen reach last eight despite Club Brugge defeat
Bayer Leverkusen beat Club Brugge 1-0 to reach the quarterfinals despite a 2-1 aggregate loss in the Uefa Youth League
Bayer Leverkusen progressed to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Youth League despite losing 2-1 at Club Brugge on Wednesday. The German side had won the first leg 3-0 and that proved enough to see them through.
Bayer Leverkusen started the game brightly and took the lead in the 12th minute through a fine strike from Iker Bravo. Club Brugge pushed for an equalizer but could not find a way past Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Lennart Grill.
The Belgian side eventually got their goal in the 75th minute when Cisse Sandra slotted home from close range. However, Bayer Leverkusen held on to secure their place in the last eight.
Bayer Leverkusen will now face either Juventus or Real Madrid in the quarterfinals. The draw for the last eight will be held on Friday.
