Early Life and Career

Tod Zingst was born on May 12, 1951, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He began playing golf at the age of 10 and quickly showed a natural talent for the game. By the time he was 16, he was competing in national tournaments.

In 1969, Zingst enrolled at the University of Florida on a golf scholarship. He was a four-time All-American and helped lead the Gators to two NCAA championships.

After graduating from college, Zingst turned professional and began playing on the PGA Tour. He won his first tournament in 1974 and went on to win a total of 11 PGA Tour events.

International Success

In addition to his success on the PGA Tour, Zingst also had a successful international career. He represented the United States in the Ryder Cup five times and was a member of the winning team in 1981.

Zingst also played in the World Cup of Golf four times and was a member of the winning team in 1980.

Later Career and Legacy

Zingst retired from the PGA Tour in 1992, but he continued to play in senior tournaments. He won the Senior PGA Championship in 1997 and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2001.

Zingst is considered one of the greatest golfers of all time. He was known for his long drives and accurate iron play. He was also a fierce competitor who always gave 100%.

Zingst died on March 10, 2021, at the age of 69. He is survived by his wife, Brenda, and his two children, Todd and Taylor.
