Bautista Agut defeats Bonzi in straight sets
Roberto Bautista Agut won the Moselle Open on Sunday, defeating Benjamin Bonzi 6-4, 6-4 in the final.
The Spaniard saved two break points in the first set and broke Bonzi twice to take the early lead.
In the second set, Bautista Agut broke Bonzi in the third game and served out the match to claim his 10th ATP title.
Bautista Agut moves up to 19th in rankings
The win moves Bautista Agut up to 19th in the ATP rankings.
The 33-year-old has had a strong season, reaching the semifinals of the Australian Open and the quarterfinals of the French Open.
He is now one of the favorites to win the US Open, which begins on August 29.
Bonzi has breakout performance
Bonzi, who is ranked 52nd in the world, had a breakout performance at the Moselle Open.
The 25-year-old Frenchman defeated three seeded players en route to the final.
He also reached the semifinals of the ATP 250 event in Metz last week.
Bautista Agut praises Bonzi
After the match, Bautista Agut praised Bonzi's performance.
"He's a great player," Bautista Agut said.
"He's very aggressive and he's very talented. He's going to be a top player in the future."
