Rep. Adrian Smith Elected to 10th Term in U.S. Congress

Incumbent Republican Re-Elected by Wide Margin

Smith has served Nebraska's 3rd Congressional District since 2007

Incumbent Republican Adrian Smith has been re-elected to a 10th term in the U.S. Congress, handily defeating Democratic challenger Alisha Shelton in Tuesday's election. With all precincts reporting, Smith secured 64% of the vote, while Shelton received 36%. He will continue to represent Nebraska's 3rd Congressional District, which encompasses the western and central portions of the state, including the cities of Grand Island, Kearney, and North Platte.

Smith, 62, has served in the House of Representatives since 2007. He is a member of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee, where he plays a key role in shaping tax and trade policy. He is also a member of the House Small Business Committee.

Smith's victory was not unexpected. He has a strong base of support in his district, and he has been endorsed by many prominent Republicans, including former President Donald Trump.

Shelton, 42, is a businesswoman and political newcomer. She ran on a platform of progressive policies, including Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, and tuition-free public college.

Despite her strong showing, Shelton was unable to overcome Smith's incumbency and name recognition. She conceded defeat in a gracious statement, saying that she was "proud of the campaign we ran." Smith thanked his supporters and pledged to continue working hard for the people of his district.
