MPCA & MDH Announce Grant for Community-Led Water Monitoring
New Collaboration Aims to Empower Local Communities in Protecting Water Resources
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) have partnered to launch a new grant program that empowers local communities to monitor their water resources.
The "Community-Led Water Monitoring Grant Program" provides funding and technical assistance to community organizations, local governments, and watershed districts to conduct water quality monitoring projects in their communities. The program aims to build local capacity for water monitoring and engage citizens in protecting their water resources.
The grant program is open to projects that address a wide range of water quality issues, including nutrient pollution, bacteria contamination, and emerging contaminants. Projects can also focus on monitoring the effectiveness of water management practices, such as stormwater management or agricultural best management practices.
