Milan Win the Youth League After a Penalty Shootout Victory Over PSG
Milan's youngsters have won the UEFA Youth League after defeating Paris Saint-Germain on penalties in Nyon.
After a goalless draw, Milan won 4-3 on penalties, with goalkeeper Lapo Nava making the decisive save to secure the trophy for the Italian side.
The match was a close affair, with both teams having chances to win in normal time. Milan had the better of the first half, but PSG came into the game more after the break.
The Rossoneri took the lead in the penalty shootout when Tommaso Pobega converted his spot-kick. PSG leveled through Arnaud Kalimuendo, but Milan restored their advantage when Lorenzo Colombo scored.
PSG missed their next two penalties, with Ismael Gharbi and Kenny Nagera both failing to convert. That gave Milan the chance to win the shootout, and they did so when Nava saved Lamine Diaby-Fadiga's penalty.
The victory is a major success for Milan's youth academy, which has produced a number of talented players in recent years. It is also a sign of the growing strength of Italian youth football.
