Commanders Acquire Four-Time Pro Bowl CB Marshon Lattimore From Saints
Washington Sends 2023 First-Round Pick, 2024 Second-Round Pick to New Orleans
Lattimore Signs Five-Year, $100 Million Extension With Commanders
The Washington Commanders have acquired four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore from the New Orleans Saints in exchange for a 2023 first-round pick and a 2024 second-round pick, the teams announced Monday.
Lattimore, 27, has been one of the NFL's top cornerbacks since entering the league in 2017. He has been named to the Pro Bowl four times and was a first-team All-Pro selection in 2019.
The Commanders have been in need of a cornerback after releasing William Jackson III earlier this offseason. Lattimore is expected to start opposite Kendall Fuller in Washington's secondary.
In addition to acquiring Lattimore, the Commanders also signed him to a five-year, $100 million extension, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The deal includes $60 million guaranteed.
The trade for Lattimore is a significant move for the Commanders, who are looking to improve on their 7-10 record from last season. Lattimore is one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL and should help the Commanders' defense take a step forward in 2023.
The Saints, meanwhile, are getting a pair of high draft picks for Lattimore. The Saints are in a rebuilding mode and are expected to use the picks to add young talent to their roster.
