Chase Travel Adds New Perks To Its Sapphire Family of Cards

Chase is adding enhanced benefits to its Sapphire family of cards, including new travel perks and earning opportunities.

The changes, which take effect October 11, 2023, include:

- Increased welcome bonuses: The Sapphire Preferred Card will now offer a sign-up bonus of 100,000 points after spending $4,000 in the first three months, up from 60,000 points. The Sapphire Reserve Card will now offer a sign-up bonus of 80,000 points after spending $4,000 in the first three months, up from 50,000 points.

- New travel perks: The Sapphire Preferred Card will now offer a $120 annual credit for travel purchases, up from $100. The Sapphire Reserve Card will now offer a $300 annual travel credit, up from $200. Both cards will also now offer complimentary access to the Priority Pass Select airport lounge network.

- New earning opportunities: The Sapphire Preferred Card will now earn 5x points on travel purchases, up from 2x points. The Sapphire Reserve Card will now earn 10x points on travel purchases, up from 3x points. Both cards will also now earn 3x points on dining and takeout purchases.

"We're always looking for ways to improve our Sapphire cards and make them even more valuable for our cardmembers," said Sanjiv Yajnik, head of Chase Card Services. "These changes will make it easier for cardmembers to earn rewards and travel with Chase."

The changes to the Sapphire family of cards come at a time when travel is rebounding. According to a recent study by the U.S. Travel Association, travel spending is expected to reach $922 billion in 2023, up from $864 billion in 2022.

"We're seeing a strong demand for travel," said Yajnik. "These changes to our Sapphire cards will help cardmembers make the most of their travel experiences."
